Mr. Benjamin Edward Groover, age 75 died on Thursday February 1, 2018 at his residence. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a farmer. He was a 1960 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp for over six years and served during the Cuban Missile Crises in Guantanamo Bay. He was a former member of the Statesboro-Bulloch Bass Masters Club. Mr. Benjamin was a very active member of the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, farming, fishing and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Allene Groover and a son-in-law Shane Padgett.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years Alice Hagan Groover; one daughter Alisa Padgett; two sons and daughters-in-law Chris (Miranda) Groover and Ashley and (Kelli) Groover all of Statesboro; six grandchildren Lane Padgett, Austin Padgett, Marie Groover, Slater Groover, Laura Ashley Groover and Logan Groover; his siblings Sammy Groover of Statesboro, Gilbert (Dale) Groover of Statesboro, Gale (Foy) Smith of Statesboro, Grace (Billy) Newsome of Dawsonville, Wayne (Sherri ) Groover of Statesboro, Warren (Rita) Groover of Statesboro, Julia Groover of Statesboro, Stevie ( Joy) Groover of Statesboro and Al (Lynne) Groover of Jesup, GA; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Buck Grantham officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Groover, Clint Smith, Clay Smith, Kevin Groover, Jonathan Groover and Wes Pope.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Statesboro-Bulloch Bass Masters Club.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Middleground Primitive Baptist Church, 7198 Harville Rd. Statesboro, GA 30458.
