She was born in Miami, Florida August 12, 1919, daughter of John Milburn Dunn and Georgia Trail Dunn. She spent her life devoted to her husband James Edward Fortner and their two daughters, Ann and Mary Jane and their families. A gifted pianist, seamstress, gardener, writer and artist she met her husband, Ed at the Max Fleischer studios in Miami where they worked on such animated films as Popeye, Gulliver's Travels and eventually Superman. After several moves back and forth from New York to Miami, they began to raise their family in Miami. They eventually settled in Ocala. Her home was always a welcoming one, to everyone who knew her, a place to come for comfort, to talk, have fun and be inspired. She recently moved to Marietta, Georgia so she and her daughter could be closer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Bohus and husband, Jerry, of Marietta, Georgia; her brother, Robert T. Dunn of Ocala; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Fortner Futch and her husband, James 'Ed' Fortner.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home-Boulevard, Ocala, Florida, with viewing one hour prior. Burial will be at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mt. Dora, Florida. Sentiments may be left online at
