Irene Lucille Ryals Alexander, 101, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of George Witte Alexander, died Sunday morning, January 28, 2018, at The Place at Pooler.

Born in Ceylon, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Christopher Ryals and the late Priscilla Faulkner Ryals. Mrs. Alexander was of the Christian faith. She retired as an operator for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph. Mrs. Alexander lived on Burnside Island for more than 40 years and was a longtime member of Fidelity Chapter #385, Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie "Sissy" Ferreira, her sisters and her brothers.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Nikki F. Palefsky and her husband, Matthew, of Rincon; three grandsons, Mike Ferreira and his wife, Trisha, of Savannah, Tony Ferreira and his wife, Robin, of Guyton, and Richard Ferreira and his wife, Katherine, of Pooler; eight great-grandchildren, Patrick, Taylor, Joey, Dimitri, Matthew, Andrew, Abigail and Nicolas; two great-great-grandchildren, Stiles and Wyatt; one sister, Jinx Winters, and her nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Pastor C. Kyle Garrison. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
