GREENSBORO Ray "Odell" Apple, 91, of Greensboro, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at his home. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Apple's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery in Gibsonville. Odell was born September 23, 1926, in Simpsonville, the son of David Alfred Griffin and Annie Estelle Griffin Apple. Odell was a graduate of Greensboro High School and went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Southern Photo Printers Supply for 37 years. Odell was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Moose Lodge #1884, Legion of the Moose #158, Revolution Masonic Lodge #552, Oriental Shrine Club, and was a 32nd degree mason. In addition to his parents, Odell was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Apple; sister, Frances Jessup and his brother, Walter Apple. Surviving are his niece, Cathy Phillips; nephew, David Condrey; sister-in-law, Dot Condrey (Ed); and his good friend, Claudia Culbreth. Memorials may be directed to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565 or to the Revolution Lodge #552 AF & AM, 802 16th St., Greensboro, NC 27405. Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel is assisting the Apple family.
