Mr. William Edward "Hoot" Coggins, 86, of Pinetops, NC died Saturday, January 13th with his family st his bedside.

Mr. Coggins, born in post-depression era of Greene County, NC; was the son of the late Robert Coggins, Sr. and Betty Coggins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Jr. and Leonard Coogins; his eldest son, Rocky; his nephew, Larry, and his grand-furbaby, Chase, a cocker spaniel.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army in 1950, having served in the Korean War, and was an ex-prisoner of War, and was honorably discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1953.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Elizabeth Harris Coggins of Pinetops; son, Rudy Coggins of Pikeville; a nieces; four nephews and one sister, Hazel of Rocky Mount.
