Conrad Franklin Deeds, 94, of Keezletown, Va., passed away, Monday, January 15, 2018, at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Deeds was born on June 24, 1923, in Elkton, Va., and was a son of the late, Hobart Oliver and Minnie Pittington Deeds. He was also preceded in death by a stillborn son, Dennis Deeds and a brother, Walter Deeds.

Conrad was a lifetime resident of the Valley and served in the Army during WWII. He previously attended Mt. Olivet Church of Christ in Elkton and was a member of Keezletown United Methodist Church. He had a 37 year career with Stroop Oil Company and upon retirement became a custodian at Spotswood High School for 3 years. Conrad enjoyed his part-time work at Keith’s Auto Sales where he drove vehicles from the auction and was a member of V.F.W. Rion-Bowman Post 632 in Harrisonburg and Disabled American Veterans.

On September 25, 1945, he married Dorothy Florence Kagey, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Connie Ethel Collins and husband, Earl of Glen Allen and Mary Ann Kiser of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Chris Washington and wife, Carrie of Staunton, Jeremy Washington of Orange and Michael Washington and wife, Stacey of McGaheysville. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Kristen, Savannah, Ryan, Lydia, Emily and Camlyn and caregivers, Mary Miller, Barbara Harper and Brenda Garrison.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastors Joel Robinette and David Nankivell, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Keezletown Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 29 of Dayton.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to a charity close to your heart.
