Scottsdale - Cono Anthony Abatemarco beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away January 10, 2018. Cono was born June 7, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to a family of ten. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII. During the war, he survived a plane crash, and his Naval ship was credited with spotting three German submarines off the East coast of the United States. After serving his country he met the love of his life, Marie DeLucia, on a blind date. They were happily married for sixty-five years. In his professional career, Tony held executive management positions with Toy Masters, Carvel and Citgo Oil. Tony was a devoted husband and family man. He loved taking his twin children, Rose and Dominick, all over the East Coast to compete in equestrian shows. In 1976 Tony and his wife Marie headed west, moving their family to Scottsdale, Arizona. Upon retirement, he assisted in the management of his sons construction company and also started Marie's Ice Cream Parlor, which his wife ran. The parlor grew to become a local favorite. Tony was a man of many talents, in addition to his management career, he was the builder of every home the family ever lived in. Tony and Marie were devout Catholics. In his leisure time he created and repaired rosaries for his local Catholic church. He also loved watching baseball and hockey, and was a great billiards player. Tony is survived by his four children, Michael, Louanne, Dominick and Rose, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Tony will be greatly missed by his friends and family and will remain in their hearts forever. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, January 16th @ 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 84th St., Scottsdale, AZ. Final resting place will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
