Edward Earl Aldridge, Sr. went home to his Lord and Savior January 10, 2018.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The burial will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston at 2 PM on Saturday. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

He was born 07/19/1938, and raised in Lenoir County, to Julian Aldridge and Frances Wilkins Aldridge. He was a graduate of Wheat Swamp High School, Class of 1956, and proudly served in the United States Air Force for seven years.

His favorite past times were fishing, cooking for his family, and teaching his grands and great-grands "Earl-isms". Earl was a member of Proctor Memorial Christian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He owned and operated Po-Boys Parts and Performance and Carolina Music Company. He also served as Mayor of Grimesland, NC for several terms.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Underwood Aldridge and his brothers, Bobby, L.D., and Allen Aldridge. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ledonia Brigman Aldridge of the home; daughters, Sharon Guthrie and husband Craig of Salter Path, NC, Deidre Albritton and husband Daniel of Ayden, NC, and son, Edward (Eddie) E. Aldridge, Jr. and wife Lisa of Greenville, NC; Grandchildren Bradley, Amanda and husband Sam, Allison, Katie and husband Grant, Julian, Kayla, Taylar, Ben, Logan, and Makenzie; Great-grandchildren Jacob and wife Victoria, Emma, Hayden, Lily, Ella, Piper, Paul, Nathan, and soon-to-be Issac; and brother, John Aldridge and wife Marlene of Kinston, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at the Veteran's Administration Clinic in Greenville, NC, most especially Dr. Arthur Caputo and his nurse Myra.
