Mr. David C. Adams, Sr. of Ocilla died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Irwin County Hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Adams was born November 12, 1922, in Turner COunty, the son of the late Alva J. Adams and Mary Jane Shivers Adams. He was of a member of the Church of Christ of Fitzgerald.
Retired owner and operator of Adams Body Shop of Ashburn, Mr. Adams had lived in Ocilla for the past seven years, moving from Ashburn where he had lived most of his life. He was a 1939 graduate of Ashburn High School.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Dement Adams.
Survivors include one son, David C. Adams, Jr. of Fitzgerald; one brother, John J. Adams of Lakeland; four sisters, Jane Biggers of Fitzgerald; Eugenia Gay of Irwin County; Gertrude Musslewhite of Stockbridge and Elouise Fowler of Eufaula, AL.
Pallbearers for Mr. Adams were Allen Gay, Carl Gay, R.E. "Bob" Musselwhite, Russel Gay, Phillip Edwards, Michael Gay, and Darrell Cooper.
Graveside services were held at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, May 1 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jim Shadwick officiating.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
