OBITUARY
Sister Mary Ackerman, 62, of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, died yesterday in Hackensack Hospital.
A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Chapel, Convent Station. Arrangements are by William R. Dangler Funeral Home, Summit.
Sr. Mary was social minister for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
She earned a bachelor's degree in history and elementary education from Blessed Sacrament College in Cornwell Heights, Pa., and a master's degree in elementary education from Indiana State University.
After entering the Sisters of Charity, Sr. Mary taught in All Saints School in Jersey City from 1978 until 1980. She also served as principal at St. Anne School in Jersey City from 1980 until 1984 and Blessed Sacrament School in Jamaica Plain, Mass., from 1984 until 1988.
Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Sisters of Charity in 1977.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Rosalie Micucci, Mrs. Anne Hughes and Mrs. Patricia Horn.
