Sister Alice Thomasine Cassidy, former principal of Sacred Heart School in Rochelle Park, died Monday. She was 83.

Sister Alice was principal of Sacred Heart School from 1960 to 1966, and a teacher at St. Anastasia School in Teaneck from 1956 to 1960.

She joined the Sisters of Charity in 1932 and began her teaching career 11 years later when she received a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station.

She also taught at Epiphany School in Cliffside Park from 1933 to 1935, and at Holy Trinity School in Westfield from 1935 to 1954. She was vice principal at Sacred Heart School in Bloomfield from 1966 to 1977.

Sister Alice lived at the Sacred Heart Church parish in Bloomfield. She returned to Convent Station and the St. A nne Villa retirement home shortly before her death.

She is survived by her sisters, Rita Prosser of Dumont and Therese Rowland of Austin, Texas.

Mass will be said at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Anne Villa chapel, Convent Station, with burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Cemetery, Covent Station.
