She was the daughter of Virgil and Thelma (Daugherty) Barmes.
Norma lived all of her life in the Elwood and Frankton area. She was a graduate of Elwood High School and retired from Excell-O Corporation, Elwood.
She was a member of the Zion Chapel Church, Elwood. She was formerly active in various church activities.
Norma enjoyed playing Bingo and she loved her dog, 'Cookie'.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Janice) Scheffer of Twinsburg, Ohio and Randy Scheffer of Peru; her brother, Danny (Bonnie) Barmes, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Abbott, her daughter, Tanya Brush; her parents, Virgil and Thelma Barmes, her brother, Leroy Barmes and her sister, Evelyn Smith.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Elwood, Indiana.
