GREENVILLE — Jack Floyd Housman, 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017, 7:22 p.m., at Kettering Medical Center, in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born December 15, 1927, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Roscoe and Katherine (Roach) Housman.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Housman, and brother Robert Housman.

Jack was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was an amateur radio operator, general class operator and a member of the TCARA. He worked for the City of Dayton as a mechanic and supervisor for 30 years, before retiring. He then worked for 40 years as a farmer. He really enjoyed farming and attending hamfest in Dayton.

He is survived by his children: Pamela and Wayne Yeager of Montgomery; Robert and Kathleen Housman of Dayton; Cynthia Housman of Greenville and Mark and Grace Housman of Greenville; grandchildren: Scott Mallory, Jess Mallory, Parker Housman, Dexter Housman and Darci Housman; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kate Mallory, Margot and Reece Mallory; brother and sister-in-law Butch and Suzie Housman of Williamsburg, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Friday, December 15, 10:30 a.m., at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Lowell Miller.

Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 14, 5-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A military honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the Salvation Army.
