Rose (Polak) Vajgrt was born on Friday; July 18, 1913, in Quarry; Marshall County, Iowa. Rose was the daughter of Melichar and Barbara (Petra) Polak. She received her education in the area of her birth and graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On Saturday; March 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Rudolph "Rudy" Vajgrt at the Czech Reformed Church in Cedar Rapids; Linn County, Iowa. They have resided in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa all of their married lives where she was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Rose (Polak) Vajgrt, age 93, of Marshalltown, passed away early Wednesday morning; March 21, 2007 at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown while in their care and of the Iowa River Hospice. Those left to mourn her passing are her son, Dennis (Jane) Vajgrt of Ames; Story County, Iowa and formerly of Marshalltown. Her granddaughters: Julia (Jim) Crowley of Victoria; Carver County, Minnesota and their children: Caroline, Benjamin and Olivia, Maria (Tyler) Burton and their son, of San Diego; San Diego County, California. Raleigh, her sisters-in-law Mabel and Martha Polak both of Marshalltown along with several nieces and nephews. In death she has rejoined her husband, Rudy, her son Orin in infancy and siblings: Louis and Joseph Polak, Mary Hemphill, Anna Balvin, Bess Vana and Helen Schneider. May they rest in peace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Graveside funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday; March 21, 2007 at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Rich King of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Following burial, all are invited to fellowship and refreshments at the hospitality room of the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Iowa River Hospice House Project.
