James C. Acker died at his home,
11O Main street, on Wednesday, In his
54th year. He had been ill for some
time.
Mr. Acker was born in Yorktown,
November 12, 1871, the son of Jame s
C. and Delia Acker. While a small
child, the family moved to Peeksklll.
He was educated here and on leaving
school, became associated with his
father In the meat and grocery business.
Later he wa s in business for
himself. When the Crane foundry
moved to Greenville, h e was an employee
and went ther e with them. He
remained but a short time and then re -
turned to Peeksklll. He became employed
as a fireman a t the Fleisehmann
plant and continued there until
his death.
Deceased was for years a member of
Columbian Engine Company, No. 1,
Imt obtained an exempt certificate
some years asjo.
Mr. Acker married Mary Doyle. She
died in 1911.
On August 23, 1923, he married Mrs.
Jennie Lent. She survives him. He
also leaves four children, Donald, Edward,
Helen, Madeline; two sisters,
Mrs. Thomas Dasey, of Peek-skill, and
Mrs. Cornelius Dietrich, of Ossining,
and one brother, Jacob.
Funeral services were held from his
late residence yesterday (Friday) afternoon,
the Rev. Robert C. Tigar officiating.
The interment was at Hillside
