MANNSVILLE, N.Y. — Roy A. Craig, 78, of U. S. Rtoute 11, died Wednesday afternoon, March 14, at Samaritan Medical Center. He had been a patient for one day.

Calling hours will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 214 Sterling St., Watertown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at St. Cecelia's Church, Adams, with Rev. Douglas Decker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, town of Watertown.

Donations may be made in his name to St. Cecelia's Church, 17 Grove St., Adams, N.Y. 13605 or to the South Jefferson Rescue Squad, 26 N. Main St., Adams, N.Y. 13605.

Born Jan. 20, 1929, in Altmar, the son of Frank and Neva G. Smith Craig, he graduated from Altmar Parish Williamstown High School in 1946.

On July 9, 1949, he married Mary L. Peglow at St. Paul's Church in Oswego. Mary, a school teacher at the Ohio Street School for 24 years, died on Dec. 31, 1980.

On March 27, 1982 he married Jennette Gifford Massey in Carthage. The couple was separated.

Roy began his career at Tiptop Baking Co., Watertown, as a salesman. He then went to work for
Stroehmann Baking Co., also in Watertown, as a salesman. He retired after 43 years with the
company. At the time of his retirement, on Aug. 31, 1991, he was the sales supervisor.

He was a communicant of St. Cecelia's Church, Adams, and a former member of Holy Family Church, Watertown. He was a former member of the Board of Education at Holy Family School.

He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 16.

He enjoyed, for many years, team hardball and softball. He had coached in the Municipal Midget
League, Watertown. He enjoyed golfing and bowled in several leagues.

Roy was a member of the NYS Trappers Assoc. and the National Trappers Assoc. He was a sportsman educator, and he taught trappers with educational programs, including Conservation Days, for the DEC. He enjoyed trapping mink on the Tug Hill. He was the Oswego County Trapper of the Year in 2001.

Mr. Craig is survived by his two sons and their wives, Mark D. & Cathy Craig, Watertown, and Wayne C. and Donna Craig, Adams Center; his two daughters and their husbands, Marcia A. & John Gosier, Chaumont, and Karen E. & James T. Babel, Adams Center; his step-daughter and her husband, Barb and Sean Huff, Carthage; his 2 stepsons, John Massey, Carthage, and
Scott Massey, Dexter; his eight grandchildren; his brother and his wife, Albert & Gloria Craig, Pulaski; his nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Two brothers, William and Clifford Craig, and his sister, Marian Bennett, died before him.
