Pussum was the most docile cat in the world. He never hurt anyone. He was solid grey, plush and soft. He went outside when he wanted, and slept in the basement. He would wait by an outside door for someone to let him in. And he would wait by an inside door to be let out. He knew he wasn't allowed to go anywhere inside the house except the basement and by the door.
He lived quite a long time for a cat that went outdoors and didn't receive much veterinary care. I deliberately didn't want to become attached to him because my cat had been taken away for no reason when I was a little girl. It didn't dawn on me until years later that Pussum even looked exactly like my cat (which my sister had never seen). She got him exactly ten years after I lost Mussey.
