Anne Minerva Abbott

WILLOW PARK - Anne M. Abbott, "Mimi", 98, went to be with the Lord on Thursday Oct. 19, 2017, after several years of declining health.

Anne was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to William Jackson and Effie Shirley Moore. Both parents passed away when she was very young and she was raised by her name sake and loving grandmother, Minerva Ann Moore. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High. She followed her first husband to the eastern part of the U.S., where they made their final move to Fort Worth in 1949.
Anne was very talented and artistic. She ran her own portrait retouching business, she loved flower arranging and was a member of the Westward Ho Garden Club, Sertoma Club, Lady Elks, Ridglea Country Club and the Petroleum Club, but her favorite pastime was playing bridge with her friends. Anne was a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She always celebrated birthdays, holidays and social events in our lives. She stood by our side in times of need as well as times of triumphs. Her family was her life. She is best described by the following poem written by her son, Jerry.

MOTHER
Like a 'precious jewel in the sky,
As bright as a diamond's eye,
A constant giver of love,
Whose soul flies higher than a dove.
Unlimited in her caring,
To her children always sharing.
Balancing the family, her touch is healing,
Blessed with unconditional feeling.
The world would be dark without her,
I smile and feel safe, when I think of my MOTHER.
Miss and love you forever Jerry and Jeannine

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Abbott; grandson, Corey Colley; brothers, Joe Moore, Robert Moore, Bill Moore and Tom Moore; and sisters, Mary Agnes Alexander and Angie Greene.

Survivors: Loving husband, Jimmie Ricketts; children, Jeannine Colley and Jerry Abbott; stepchildren, Brian Ricketts and wife, Brenda, Nancy Ornelas and husband, Richard Jag-Nathan; step-grandchildren, Nik Ornelas and Andy Ornelas; and many nieces and nephews.
