Charles Burton Rickert was born in 1909 to Mahlon Hunsicker Rickert and Della Edith Strohm. Charles was the youngest of their six children consisting of 5 boys and 1 girl. Mahlon and Della also had a stillborn daughter in 1906.

Charles went to school in Sellersville, PA. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and married Mary Evelyn Freed Ratzell in 1936. They had only one child, Mary Elizabeth Rickert, born in 1937. In 1940, Charles in listed with his wife and daughter in Harrisburg, PA where he is listed as manager of a beauty shop.

The family moved to Milwaukee, WI prior to 1951 and he died there in 1953. His wife, Mary, never remarried.
