In Memory of Elizabeth White, whose burial site is currently unknown.

Elizabeth married Robert White Sr after Milly's death between 1807/1810, in Union Co SC. Her last name is not known.

Perhaps a study of all Elizabeth's/Betsy's, in attendance at the Padgett's Creek Baptist Church in Cross Keys Union Co SC, may tell us her surname, a future project. Some
have suggested it may be Elizabeth Howard...

Robert and Elizabeth were married about 30 years. She would have been involved in parenting two or three of the children, as most were already grown.

Her and Robt moved to Spartanburg in 1829 after his oldest son's death, Wm White. They were received at the Cedar Spring Baptist Church, also in 1829.

This church recorded Elizabeth's death as follows:

"Cedar Springs Baptist Church Minutes:
Page 44 of Minutes.
Recorded the death of Elizabeth;

"Old sister Elizabeth White departed this life on the 27th December 1840".

Elizabeth is recorded on the 1810, 1820 in Union Co with Robert, and on the 1830 in Spartanburg Co SC, She would have been on the 1840, however, I have not found a 1840 for Spartanburg, with any of our White's?

1840 - Have found no 1840 Census in either Spartanburg or Union,
for any Robert White's??? Census could have missed them.
NOTE: Robt. Sr. was about 97 years old in 1840, died Nov 1843.
Have looked for some of the folks who lived around Robert in
1830 and still cannot find him, Jr is missing also... My guess
Sr and wife are living with family.

1840 - Death of Elizabeth White wife of Robt Sr was recorded in the

THE HUNT FOR ELIZABETH'S LAST NAME (SURNAME):
I Suspect Elizabeth Howard, I list my evidence below.
THE HUNT FOR ROBERT WHITE SR'S 2nd known wife, ELIZABETH, Unknown last name.

1st Wife Mildred (Milly) White died 1807.

2nd Wife Elizabeth ???? Married Robert by 1810 (via census)

A list of All "ELIZABETH's (Betsey's)" Recorded at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church.

1788-1833

First: Padgett's Crk Church was the Mother Church to others, Lower Fairforest, Tinker, Bridge and others, they recorded the minutes of these other 'Arms' of the Padgett's until they became independent or closed.

Minutes were recorded from 1787 to 1900's and current I believe. In the early days if a new member wanted in, from any of the other Arms of the Padgett's, Padgett's recorded that event for the other churches, but many times did not reference the other churches names... sometimes, rarely, they did.

Second: Lower Fairforest began recording its own minutes in 1809, that is why some members are never recorded there as "Being Received", they were already there, when they started recording their own minutes.

Robert White Sr. - is Charter member #1 at the Lower Fairforest. They did record he and Elizabeth's departure in 1829. I looked at the minutes only for the Period of interest, from 1803, as Robt's 1st wife Mildred (Milly) died in 1807, and we estimate that Robert Sr married again by 1810, per the Census, so I checked a bit before and after...

LIST OF "Elizabeth's" - LOWER FAIRFOREST BAPTIST;

White, Elizabeth May 12, 1812 Received by Letter. (Could this be the Elizabeth Howard from 1808 above? the 2nd wife of Robt White Sr???) We need to check 1800 census for a Elizabeth Howard, SINGLE/Widowed, might be in her 40's Our Robert White Sr was already charter member #1 at The Lower Fairforest 1809. & remarried by 1810 Census. Son Wm White and his wife Elizabeth were already members with Robt Sr at this same church 1809.

Note: The Lower Fairforest was a meeting house or arm of the Padgett's up until 1809, when it became its own church, members already in attendance of the new LF Church in 1809, some were not shown to be RECEIVED, only new members would be shown received, otherwise, we would have seen Robert White Sr DISMISSED from Padgett's Creek and Received at LF Church, thus, Elizabeth White, Received in May 1812, could be the Betsey Howard RESTORED to membership at the Padgett's in Nov 1812, to clear her record and reputation...who married Robert White Sr. Working THEORY of course.
