Mary R. Kalaman was born June 2, 1920 and was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio. She passed away on January 14, 2016 at the young age of 95.

Mary was a homemaker, secretary and caregiver for most of her life. She was a master euchre player and loved to polka. Mary was the happiest when she was with her family. She worked at Motor Cargo where she met the love of her life, her husband Mike.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; parents, Mike and Mary; sisters and their spouses, Jenny (Pete) Bisheimer, Florence (Milt) Collins, Connie (Nick) Rinaldo; and brother, Jim (Joan) Severin. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Thomas P. Welsh and in-laws, Frank and Mary Kalaman, Danny and Mary Radvany and Frank and Vassie Kalaman.

She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen Welsh and Mike (Melina) Kalaman; grandchildren, Megan (Jason) Benish, Lauren and Caitlin Welsh and Halle Kalaman; great-granddaughter, Sloane Benish; as well as many loving and dear nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank Bath Manor staff, Diana, James and especially Dan and the Hospice Care Center for all of their loving care.

Calling hours will be Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave., Akron. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bernard Hunger Program.
