Private family services were held for Russell L. Ramirez Sr., 82, who passed away Friday morning at the Woodlands at Austin Woods.

Russell was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Youngstown, a son of the late Luis and Elsie (Pratt) Ramirez.

Russell retired as a pharmacist from Franklin Pharmacy in Warren. He also worked with the Ohio State Pharmacy Association, was past president of the Eastern Ohio Pharmacists Association and the Trumbull Pharmacy Association.

Russell was a member of the committee for VD Awareness and attended the 1979 Switzerland Convention.

He loved traveling and going places with his wife. They always looked forward to attending conventions together. He also enjoyed watching TV, sports and reading mysteries.

Russell leaves his wife, the former Gloria J. Ohl; his son, Russell L. (Tami) Ramirez Jr. of Minneapolis; his two grandchildren, Jared and Lia Ramirez; a brother, Warren (Mary Ann) Ramirez of Austintown; and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois (Joe) Slifka.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, OH 44509.

Russell’s family would like to give a special thanks to Denise Bobovnyik M.D. and staff for all of their excellent care for many years.

Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
