Leslie Eugene Bowling, 92, of Manistee, died Thursday evening, Sept. 7, 2017, at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.

He was born on June 5, 1925, in Cadillac, Mich., the son of the late Frank and Edna (Christofferson) Bowling. He was a 1943 graduate of Cadillac High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He married Doris N. Jenema on Oct. 4, 1946, in Falmouth, Mich.

Les was banker, having been employed by Security National Bank in Manistee. He retired on June 5, 1990.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee and the Manistee Kiwanis Club. Les also served as a city councilman and mayor of Manistee. He enjoyed fishing.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Marshall and Jeffrey Bowling; by four brothers, Kenneth, Russell, Emory and Earl; and by two sisters, Gladys and Agnes.

Memorial services for Leslie E. Bowling will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee with the Rev. Kevin McClain officiating. Military Honors by the Manistee United Veterans Council Honor Guard in follow. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
