Son of Edward Evans and Annetta "Nettie" (Shepherd) Blakely. Husband of Zella Kellogg. Laborer for Swift & Co. He resided in Albany, MO but died in Missouri Methodist Hospital in Saint Joseph, MO after a 15 day stay. He died at the age of 68 due to coronary heart disease and myocardial insufficiency. He also had diabetes and diabetic gangrene of foot. Roy was buried in Grandview East Cemetery.

Roy J. Blakely, 68 years old, died
last Friday morning at the Missouri
Methodist hospital in St. Joseph
where he had been a patient for
about two weeks. He had under-
gone surgery there on Monday
morning of last week.

Born in Andrew county, Missouri,
on Aug. 14, 1886, he was a son of
Edward E. and Annetta Shepherd [sic].
For the past 20 years, Mr. and Mrs.
Blakely had lived on their farm
south of Albany. Earlier this year,
they sold their farm and purchased
a property in Albany where they
have been making their home for
the past several months.

Mr. Blakely was employed by
Swift & Co., at St. Joseph for 38
years prior to his retirement a few
years ago.

He was a member of the Albany
Presbyterian church, Brotherhood
Lodge No. 269, A.F. and A.M.,
Moila Temple, Pearl Chapter No.
529 O.E.S. and was a 32nd degree
Scottish Rite Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Zella K. Blakely, of the home; two
daughters, Mrs. Virginia Simmons of
Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Eleanor
Vaughn of Houston, Tex.; two
granddaughters, Mrs. Harold Croan
of Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. William
Pearson, jr., Dallas, Tex. He is also
survived by his mother, Mrs. E. E.
Blakely, of Kansas City, and two
sisters, Mrs. A. Reed Wilson of
Kansas City and Mrs. C. M. Jessup
of Pompano Beach, Fla.

Funeral services were conducted
from the Brooks Funeral Home in
Albany Sunday afternoon at 3
o'clock by the Rev. Theodore C.
Sperduto. Interment was in the
Grandview cemetery.
