Lena Mae Dowell Thomas, 95, of Logansport, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017, in Miller’s Merry Manor.



Born November 14, 1921, in Warren County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Thompson) Pearson.



On November 14, 1938, in Williamsport, she was married to Erman Lee Dowell who preceded her in death February 2, 1977. On May 16, 1986, in Tennessee, she was married to John Thomas, who survives.



A farmwife and mother of four, Lena had worked as a cashier at Big R.



Surviving with her husband of 31 years are four children: David L. (Norma) Dowell, of Amboy, Patricia Mae VanCleef-Booker, of Portage; Victor Gene (Melody) Dowell; and Erman L. (Diana) Dowell Jr., all of Logansport, and ; three sisters. Esther Conklin and Shirley Kay Schnelle, both of Attica, and Linda Rush, of Florida; twelve grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Craig; two brothers, Lawrence Pearson and an infant brother, and two great-grandchildren.




Funeral Information

A funeral service celebrating Lena’s life will be held at noon August 11 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with James Martin officiating.



Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
