Connie Jarrett Soules and Ora Alice Belle Potter lived at 1217 Hickory Tree Lane on her grandfather Absalom Potter's homestead near Mesquite, Texas at the corner of Potter Lane and Hickory Tree Lane. They were the parents of Hattie Mae Soules, Jimmie Marion Soules, and Connie Jarrett, Soules, Jr., who was known as "C.J.." They were members of the Primitive Baptist church. After the death of her father, Marion Potter on October 21, 1937, Ora's mother, Georgia Ann (Johnson) Potter, made her home with Ora and Connie until her death on February 5, 1943.

After their marriage Connie Soules worked as a farmer and later at the Ferris Brick Company located north of the original Potter property's northern boundary of Scyene Road. Connie worked for Ferris Brick Yard for more than 40 years before he retired in 1959. He was superintendent of the company the last 10 years he worked there.

CONNIE JARRETT SOULES, SR., 97, of Mesquite, a retired manager for Ferris Brick Co., died Saturday. He was a member of the Mesquite United Methodist Church. Survivors include sons, C. J. Soules, Jr. of Mesquite and Jimmie Soules of Dallas; daughter, Hattie Mae Oliver of Mesquite; sister, Minnie Potter of Mesquite; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Grave side service at 3 p.m. today at Mesquite City Cemetery.
