Helen Gearhart Dams, 85 born on July 15, 1929 in Altoona, PA to John A. Gearhart and Edith K. Gearhart went to join our Heavenly Father in eternal peace on July 7, 2015. She was a resident of Riverpoint Crest Skill Nursing Home at the time. She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Rebecca Louise Sykes. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Gearhart of San Marcos, CA. She was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School. After graduation, she was employed many years in the Altoona Shoe Company, until she met and married William Joseph Charles Dams on September 8, 1962. Forever starting her life long career as a steadfast, faithful Marine Corp wife and mother.

Helen is survived by her husband of 52 years William J. Dams of the home, one son William Herman John Dams of New Bern, NC and one daughter Anna Marie Dams of the home and her fiancée Glenn A Crawford of Havelock, NC.

She was blessed to have two wonderful grandchildren, Gunnery Sgt. Randolf Nathan Revert, Jr. of San Bruno, CA; Aris Marie Sykes of Toms River, NJ, and two beautiful great granddaughters Dominique A Revert and Ariana J Revert of Temecula, CA.

Helen played an active role in many fraternal Masonic Orders. She was Past Grand Royal Matron of the Grand Court of NC Order of the Amaranth, Past Royal Matron of Tryon Court #16 Order of the Amaranth, Past Worthy Matron of Cherry Point Chapter #289 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy High Priestess of Coastal Shrine #9 White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was a member at large in the Daughters of the Nile, Past Bethel Guardian of Bethel #3 Jobs Daughters; Past Noble Grand of Miriam Rebekah Lodge of Beaufort, NC, and a member of the Moose Lodge of Newport, NC. Before her health issues, she was a faithful member and organist of the Upper Room Church. She will be missed by all those she left behind. She will be forever known as "Poopsie" to dad and "Weezie" to others.

Memorial Service will be officiated by Pastor Ernest E Cutler, from the Upper Room Church, Havelock, NC. Memorial service will be Saturday, July 11 2015 at 2 pm at Cotten Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, July 10, 2015 at Cotten Funeral Home.
