Miss Cortes is a former student of the University of Texas and a graduate of SMU. she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, the Slipper Club and the Junior Art League.
Major Kirby-Smith attended the University of the South at Sewanee, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and was graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He recently returned from twenty-six months in Oren, Algeria.
The bride-elect has been serving as a nurse's aide at McCloskey General Hospital.
