Margaret Bickel Adams was born to Margaret Gordon Bickel and Leon Robert Bickel in Baltimore, Maryland November 8, 1928 and passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

She was four years old when her family moved to North Carolina, where she attended North Carolina Public Schools and was graduated from East Carolina University. She taught thirty-two years in the North Carolina Public Schools, the last twenty-five years at West Marion School in McDowell County. In retirement she had time to learn about her maternal ancestors, the first families to settle in Burke, McDowell and Buncombe Counties, about whom she wrote two books. She participated in historical organizations and was an officer in the DAR and UDC. She lived the Christian Faith learned in childhood. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.

She was a widow of Horace Milton Adams and mother of Gordon Milton Adams, deceased.

Survivors are her sister, Frances Jones of Plymouth, North Carolina and nephews Robert Jones of Plymouth, North Carolina; and Leon Jones of Welcome, North Carolina; and Michael Jones of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Graveside Services will be in Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
