Robert Reed “Bob” Gibeaut, 64, of Nitro, passed away June 30, 2017 at Scarlet Oaks Retirement Community in Cincinnati, OH, after a short illness.
Bob was a 1972 graduate of Nitro High School and worked as a Tool & Die Maker for many years in South Charleston. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid collector of Native American artifacts he found in the greater Kanawha Valley. His caring spirit, tireless work ethic, and love for animals are fond memories for all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Gibeaut, sister Gail Gibeaut Ball, infant sister Mary Elizabeth Gibeaut, and special nephew James Layne.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Calla Cochran Gibeaut of St. Albans, his mother Wanda Boggess Gibeaut of Nitro, daughter Ann Lockard (David) of Danville, son David Gibeaut (Kristin) of Morgantown, sisters Hollis (Loren) Claypool of Charleston, Amy (Rob) Erwin of Nitro, Cathy Gibeaut (Bill Keene) of Pinch, his beloved grandchildren Kerrigan and Samuel Lockard, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Thursday, July 6th at 6pm at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, Nitro with Pastor Rob Van Fossen officiating. Family and friends may call an hour prior to the service.
