Twila Mae Greenawalt Muterspaugh of Harrisonburg, went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family, on Jan. 22, 2018. She was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Kline, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late David and Clara Greenawalt.

She graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, W.Va., in 1951 and then moved to Harrisonburg and graduated from Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. After finishing nursing school, she worked at Rockingham Memorial Hospital and then for Dr. Harold Huffman from 1969 to 2004. She was a member of the Mount Horeb UMC near Hinton, where she taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with her family.

She was married on Dec. 22, 1956, to Mark S. Muterspaugh, who preceded her in death on July 31, 1995.

Surviving are a daughter, Marla M. King and husband, Rick, of Bedford, Va.; two sons, M. Alan Muterspaugh of Harrisonburg and Troy L. Muterspaugh and wife, Wanda, of Bridgewater; a brother, Forest L. Greenawalt of Bourbonnais, Ill.; four grandchildren, Amanda Houser and husband, Seth, of Lynchburg, Va., Jared King of Bedford, Va., Misty Drumheller and husband, David, and Missy Muterspaugh, all of Bridgewater; as well as two great-grandchildren, KayLeigh and Liam Drumheller.

Twila was lovingly cared for by her family, with very special care given by her daughter-in-law, Wanda, and very special caregivers from Home Instead.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Mount Horeb United Methodist Church in Hinton with Pastor Isaac Harper and Pastor David Whitehurst officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Mount Horeb UMC, 422 Hinton Road, Dayton, VA or the Alzheimer’s Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville, VA.
