Joseph John Repole, Sr., 96, of West Hartford, and Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday (February 19, 2007) with his loving daughters by his side at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL. He was the beloved husband for 61 years to the late Mary (Nock) Repole who passed away in 1996. Joseph was born on September 4, 1910 in Hartford, a son of the late Angelo and Marguerite (Marchese) Repole and had resided in West Hartford for the past 52 years and "snow birded" in Fort Myers for the past 20 years. He was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1929 and was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who served in the Pacific Theatre on LCT's and LSD's in the invasions in the Philippines. Prior to and subsequent to his service in the Navy, Mr. Repole and his wife, Mary, were the proprietors of the former Paradise Grill on Park Street in Hartford for over 40 years. He was a longtime member of the Hartford Elks Lodge Number 19, and past Exalted Ruler during the Lodges' 100th anniversary in 1983. Joseph was a faithful employee at the Hartford Club on Prospect Street, Hartford where he was a bartender for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Repole enjoyed spending their winters at Lee Plantation in Fort Myers, FL and he volunteered many hours at the Health Park Medical Center and VFW Post in Fort Myers, while working at the local Winn Dixie Supermarket the past six years. He loved golf and played frequently in Hartford, West Hartford, and Fort Myers where he was a ranger at the Gulf Harbour Golf and Country Club. Mr. Repole was a worldwide traveler, having made trips to Cuba (pre Castro), Japan, China, India, Russia, Africa, and Western Europe. Joe was also a long-time devoted and dedicated New York Yankees fan who either attended many of their games or watched most of them on television. Joseph will be sadly missed by his caring children, Joseph J. Repole, Jr. and his wife, Frances, of Framingham, MA, Gail Myott and her husband, Raymond, of Enfield, Nancy Cummings and her husband, Patrick, of Enfield; seven special grandchildren, Denise Oswell, Jill Dionis, Jean Repole, Shaun Cummings, Jamie Ghetti, Tim Cummings, Joseph Repole; thirteen adored great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
