Elroy W. Sander, 81, of Breese, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese.
He was born March 30, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of William G. and Pauline Eifert Sander. He and Alberta E. "Betty" Brazeal were married Oct. 4, 1947, at Illmo.

Sander worked 32 years in the paint and finish department of General Motors in St. Louis.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rebecca Seay of Granite City, Ill., Paula Sander of Alton, Ill.; two sons, David Sander of Winchester, Va., Robert Sander of Granite City; six sisters, Lillian Little of Scott City, Geneva Seyer of High Ridge, Mo., Wanda McCord of St. Louis, Betty Goodman of Fenton, Mo., Marilyn Graham of Troy, Mo., Jackie Metzger of Wright City, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and four sisters.

The funeral was Jan. 30 at Irwin Chapel in Granite City, with the Rev. Jeff McDonald officiating. Burial with military rites was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
