Sylvester Madison Bond, age 78, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Tuesday, April 12, 1910.


He was born June 6, 1831 in Virginia the son of Charles and Rebecca (Bevins) Bond.


He and Sarah M. "Sallie" Hartsock were married February 23, 1851 in Scott County, Virginia. They were the parents of seven children.


They were in Washington County, Arkansas before 1880.


He was predeceased by his parents; and a daughter, Nancy E. Brinson.


Survivors include his wife; three sons, Thomas J. Bond, William M. Bond and Jonathan H. Bond; and three daughters, Mary R. Smith, Melvina Ward and Laura E. Clark.


Burial in Combs Chapel Cemetery SE of Fayetteville.

1920 Census, Sallie was listed with her daughter, Melvina Ward.


Sallie died April 19, 1926 in Fayetteville, her burial location could be in the unmarked grave on south side of her husband at Combs Chapel Cemetery.

Gravesite Details

This stone was read in the 1954 reading of the cemetery, but was not shown in the 1970 or 1981 reading. I recently found the stone while removing brush around a tree. The above information has come from the headstone and researching the internet.
