Martha Lynn Davis-Raben, 53, of Carbondale, formerly of Galatia, died 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at her residence.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with Jeff Rush officiating. Burial will be in Lindale Cemetery near Eldorado. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at the funeral home.

She was born May 21, 1953, in Harrisburg to John and Sibyl (Reynolds) Davis.


She was an artist and musician and graduated from Southern Illinois University.

She is survived by a son, Joe Raben of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Lee Raben of Galatia; a brother, Jerry (Betty) Davis of Galatia; two nieces, Angie McAlister of Evansville, Ind., and Andrea Boyett of Fort Smith, Ark.; three great-nieces, Hanna, Troy and Brittany; and best friend and companion, Tom Egert.

Donations can be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and the Cancer Society.
