James Henry Barfield, 74, passed away on June 21, 2017 at home in Pearl, MS. Visitation was held from 12pm until funeral service at 2pm on June 30, 2017 at Brantley - Phillips Funeral Home of Hernando, MS. He was then laid to rest in Hernando Memorial Park Cemetery alongside his wife Martha and daughter Angela.
Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and LouEdna Barfield, his Wife, Martha Barfield, their Daughter, Angela Hebron Barfield, and a Grandson, Matthew Barfield. He is survived by his three brothers, William, Charlie, and Billy Joe, his children, Terry, David, and Lisa, and their spouses. Also survived by his beloved Grandchildren, Raven, Brendan, Ashlyn, T. J., Chris, Amber, Joseph, and Austin... as well as several Great-Grandchildren.
Jim shared 53 beautiful years with his wife Martha - they were first joined in marriage in June of 1964. Their bond in love was so strong that they married a second time in 2009. They overcame many tragedies together, never losing any piece of their bond but only growing stronger. Jim was greatly skilled in many types of construction and was an Electrician by trade. His other skills included furniture restoration, mirror resilvering, macrame, ceramics, computer repair, and building designs. Truly, there was very little he couldn't fix. He loved music, especially the oldies, he loved television and movies of all kinds and from all eras, and most of all, he loved his family and was utterly devoted to his grandchildren. He had an amazing capacity for understanding and he is remembered by many for his advice and encouragement. He is greatly missed by all those who remember him.
