He married JESSIE CONSTANCE FIRKINS on 7th September, 1908 at Pershore, Worcestershire. They had tow sons - ANTHONY ROBERT b 17th August, 1910 and GEOFFREY DUNSTAN b 3rd September, 1912.
He began his working life as a carpenter, but soon moved into the work of porcelain modelling, design and teaching pottery at night schools.
After the end of World War I, he and GEORGE SPRAYER (a wood carver) went into business together as SPRAYER & EVANS (stone masons & carpenters). Their early works consisted mainly in renovations, repairs and manufacture of church pews, memorials etc, but they later branched out into creating memorials and headstones for the fallen of WWI.
His own headstone suggests he was a kind and gentle man, who was clearly loved by all who knew him.
