Jack married Mahala Jane Ivey on March 14, 1869. Mahala born May 1850, the daughter of William B. Ivey and Levisey Cofer. Into this marriage the following children were born: Irena L. "Reanie", George W., Lelia F. "Lealer", Jessey, Jimie, Marshall Sylvanus, Benjamin Columbus and Sarah Levisey "Sallie Vissey". Only the last three children reached adulthood.
Jack died of typhoid fever sometime between June 25, 1880 because he was listed on the 1880 Jackson Co., GA. Federal Census & 1885 because his wife, Mahaley J. Brown, was listed as a widow on the 1885 Tax Record for Jackson Co. Jack was buried in what was then called the Wilderness in rural Jackson Co. A couple of researchers believe the location of burial might be on Lipscomb Lake Rd. between Pond Fork Church Rd. and Buffington Dr. in rural Jackson Co., Georgia.
