He attended school in Fargo, graduating from Shanley High School in 1951. Rudy then attended NDSU where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1956 until being honorably discharged in 1962.
On July 16, 1962 Rudy was united in marriage to Connie Sampsell in Kansas City, Missouri.
He served as President of Ohio Trailer, TeeNee Trailer Co., and Maris Distributing Co. which he founded with his brother, Roger in 1967.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; and younger brother, Roger.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; six children, four grandchildren, five nephews, and four nieces.
