Jackie Richardson, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (June 7, 2017) as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born on January 7, 1939 in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude Gladman LaRosee.

She retired from Southern States as a bookkeeper, and also retired from the Grayson County Detention Center as a guard. Jackie was extremely active in the Grayson County community. She volunteered at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Grayson County Community Food Alliance. She helped at the Leitchfield United Methodist Church Clothes Closet and was involved in many other organizations. Jackie was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she served a term as State President. She was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. She participated in the first Honor Flight for female veterans in 2015. She organized the mailing of Christmas cards to thousands of military personnel overseas. Jackie’s husband Murrell, served as Grayson County PVA, with Jackie beside him. She and Murrell met while she was in the Air Force. She had a strong commitment to helping others. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, reading and gardening in her spare time. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, were she volunteered, and was on the Altar Society.

She is survived by her husband, Murrell Richardson; son, David Richardson (Julie), all of Leitchfield; daughter, Melody Nash (Paul) of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Mika Tyler, Chase Richardson, Taylor Nash, and Spencer Nash; great-grandchildren, Eva and Jack Willis Tyler; two step grandchildren, Latisha Heller and Kristin Embry; sisters, Judy McCarron, Linda Clegg, Debbie Foster, all of MA, and Miriam Dempler of CA; brothers, Frank, Bernie, Tony LaRosee all of Washington State, and Walter LaRosee of NH. A host of many friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, (June 12, 2017) at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield. Rev. Tony Bickett and Rev. Bill Macey will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. There will be no visitation on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church Altar Society or to Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
