Conrad Erve Miller, 88, of Great Falls, Va., formerly of Bridgewater, passed away on June 6, 2017. A son of the late Leonard and Bessie Hamilton Miller, he was born August 11, 1928, in Hinton, Va.

Mr. Miller was raised in Dayton, Va., and after high school served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He earned his undergraduate degree at James Madison University, and his PhD in physical chemistry at Oklahoma State University. On August 15, 1953, he married Betty Mae Leary, who preceded him in death on June 13, 2015.

He worked for 30 years as a research scientist with E.I. DuPont, with nine patents to his name for his work there. He and his wife, Betty, moved to Bridgewater upon retirement, where they enjoyed over 20 wonderful years together.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ray L. Miller, Lowell H. Miller; and his sister, Junella Aylor.

Surviving are his son, William “Bill” E. Miller and wife, Betsy of Orlando, Fla.; daughters, Dr. Deborah K. Miller and husband, Dr. Kenneth Jackson of Great Falls Va, and Paula G. Lindler and husband, Bryan of Mooresville, N.C.; five grandchildren, William Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Anna Lindler, Abigail Jackson and Maggie Lindler; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday June 11, 2017, at Dayton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Bird officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
