Obituary:
Mr. Mario Giovanni "Centorbi" Centobie, 39, of Biloxi, died April 28, 2005, in Alabama.

Mr. Centobie was a loving, devoted husband and father. He was a native of Biloxi and a member of the Gulf Coast Italian-Americn Society and the Order of Sons of Italy in America. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at the State of Mississippi Fire Academy and previously employed as a firefighter. He also worked as an Associate Instructor with the State of Mississippi Fire Academy-Field Extension Services. He was an American Red Cross Lifeguard, an American Heart Association CPR Instructor, Firefighter I, II and III Class Hazardous Materials Technician, Confined Space Rescuer, (SCUBA) Dive-Rescue Specialist and a Rope-Rescue Specialist. Mario was a patriot. He received a total of nine Green Cross Awards for rescuing trapped and injured victims and was chosen as 1992 Firefighter of the Year and Fireman of the Year in 1993. He received several other meritorious awards for saving four people from drowning and for outstanding service.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Katherine Jenkins-Wolff of Biloxi; Charles Wolff of Syracuse, NY; Marvel Maxine Copping-Centobie and Mateo Martin Paul "Centorbi" Centobie, Sr. of New Orleans, LA.
Survivors include his son, whom he was most proud of, Dominic Guiliano Centobie, of Long Beach; his mother, Margaret T. Wolff-O'Connor of Biloxi; his father, John Arden Centobie of Anaheim, CA; brothers, Clifton R. Moore, Jr. of Bossier City, LA; Jeffery L. Moore and Tyler J. O'Connor both of Biloxi and Paisano F. Centobie of Capitola, GA; sisters, Janina Marie Centobie of Buena Park, CA; Sarah D. O'Connor and Christina E. O'Connor, both of Biloxi; nephews Ryan Moore of Temple, GA and Colby W. Touchstone of Woolmarket; niece, Summer Lynn Moore of Bossier City, LA and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Mario was loved and respected. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Executed by lethal injection at the Holman Prison in Atmore, AL after being convicted of the 1998 murder of Moody (AL) Police Department Officer Keith Turner.
