Eula Alley McCowan, 92, of Seneca, SC, formerly of Chattaroy, passed away in Seneca on May 24, 2017.
Born May 13, 1925, in Vulcan, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Stuart Hurley and Elsie Ferrell Hurley.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Okey Alley and Earl "Red" McCowan; and a beloved sister, Beulah Hackney.
Eula was a longtime member of the Memorial Church of Christ where she was active until she relocated to South Carolina. She was a retired educator with 28 years of service, having taught at Jennies Creek, where she began her career, Nolan Grade School and finally retiring while teaching at Riverside Elementary in West Williamson.
Eula enjoying singing, reading, and she especially enjoyed baking.
Eula's greatest passion was her family. She deeply loved and cared for each one and was very proud of the individual accomplishments of her daughter and grandchildren. Her love extended to the family she gained when she married her husband "Red", in 2007.
Eula will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered always.
Eula is survived by her daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Clifford Fugitt of Clemson, SC; a step-daughter, Annette, and her husband, Mike Adkins of Taylorville, W.Va.; step-sons, Robert McCowan and Jimmy (Barbara) McCowan; her granddaughters, Teri (Michael) Polen and Jennifer Kearse; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Reese Polen; a step-granddaughter, Dawn Mullins; a step-great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Mullins; sisters, Nora Blankenship, Sandra Schaefer and Carol Quick; brothers, Ferrell (Faye) Hurley, Fred (Gloria) Hurley, Wallace (Pat) Hurley and John Hurley; a special niece Ginger (Johnny) Hatfield, and a host of nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Visitation is from Noon until 1pm, Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The funeral service will be begin at 1pm with her nephew, Johnny Hatfield officiating.
Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
