Born in Pear, on October 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lemon and Virginia Bennett Plumley. She was the 5th child of 13, all of which were raised on Plumley Mountain.
After a busy life of raising five children alone, she entered the first class of the Beckley Institute of Hair Design and graduated in 1967. Then later, owned and operated her own beauty shop. She was well known for making pickled corn
with her brother, Beecher, which she shared with many people. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for over 70 years where she had taught the first grade Sunday School Class and also enjoyed many senior trips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley, who was killed in the Stanaford #2 Mine at the age of 33. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Letha Townsley, Freda Jenkins, Reva Plumley, Olabell Bernard, and brothers, Harold, Eulis, James, and Boomer Plumley, and grandson, Gary Tee.
Survivors include brothers Beecher and Howard Plumley; sisters Mary McKinney and Charlene McKibben; sons: Denarl (Barbara) and David (Kathy) Baker; three daughters Loretta Tee, Linda (Lee) Hart, and Sharon (Stephen) Rollyson; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and four great- great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 3 P.M. on Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Dr. Charles Bright officiating.
Burial will follow at the Allen Plumley Cemetery on Plumley Mountain.
Friends may visit with the family from 6PM until 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
