Benjamin Harrison Kinkade, 92, of Courtyard Estates in Piper City, IL., formerly of Pontiac, IL., passed away at 4:45 A.M., Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Piper City Rehab and Living Center in Piper City following a two week illness.

His funeral mass will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Piper City with Rev. Rey Treyes officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Piper City with Military Rites by the Piper City American Legion Gibb Post 588.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home in Piper City. Memorials may be made to the Piper City American Legion Gibb Post 588 or to St. Mary's School in Pontiac.

Benjamin was born on October 14, 1924 in Noble, IL., to Benjamin Harrison and Laura Louise (Wells) Kinkade.

His childhood was spent in Noble and he attending Hedrich Country School. Benjamin enjoyed 72 years of marriage to Eloise Marie Schall, whom he married on March 4, 1944 in Piper City. She passed away on July 25, 2016.

Survivors include his son; Six grandchildren.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son - James "Catfish" Kinkade, two brothers - Ivan and Virl and six sisters - Opal Blackford, Reba Bowen, Veleta Shirley, Vera Montgomery, Mary Kimmel and Pauline Rodgers.

He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Piper City and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. Benjamin was a WWII Veteran serving with the 55th Field Army Artillery Battalion in the Philippines from 1944 - 1946.

He was past Commander and member of the Piper City American Legion Gibb Post 588, VFW of Pontiac and held several offices with the Moose Lodge #1103. Benjamin co-owned and operated Kinkade Texaco Station with his wife in Piper City until moving to Pontiac in 1965. He then worked as Service Manager for Wolf Jacobson Chevrolet starting in 1966 and then Ruby Motors and Driscoll Motors. He retired in 1991. Benjamin always had a story to tell and loved to make the grand-kids giggle with an amusing limerick. He will be dearly missed; as a father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His unwavering love and devotion will live on for may generations.
