This memorial is a pathway for those who may have been lost, and those who have been found.

Clara 'Marion' Johnson, daughter of James Burton 'Burt' Sr & Jeanette (Fleming) Johnson.

The only record of the name Clara is on her birth certificate. She always went by Marion, even on my mother’s adoption papers.

Marion never married but had five (known) children out of wedlock. My mother being the last and youngest, (known)born in 1953.

Marion kept the first child, gave up the next three to children's homes at various ages. My mother was the only child given up for adoption at birth.

We know DNA confirms one of Marion's children belonged to Edgar Basil Joyce (Memorial# 157694940), who had 13 children of his own, with his wife, Johannah M Joyce (Memorial# 157694941).

The DNA verified child was born in 1938. It's unknown if the other two children, (one before, one after) belonged to Edgar.

The last two have been DNA verified as not belonging to Edgar Joyce.

Children in order of birth:
1935,1938,1944,1946,1953.
Two of the children are deceased. Two brothers, and my mother, are still living.
Marion was very tight lipped about who the father(s) were. From what I've learned she was not the nicest person. All the same, she is my bio maternal grandmother. No family tree is without skeletons.

Maybe with this information someone who was put up for adoption on the east coast of Canada can find their family. The family is originally from Scotland, mainly Lanarkshire. They landed and took root in Albion Mines, which is current day Stellerton, and surrounding areas. Myself and my 1st cousins are on Family Tree DNA. I'm also on Ancestry.
