Glessie Adkins Miller, 90, of Ramseytown, Went to Heaven Saturday May 6, 2017 at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late W.D. and Hester Adkins. She was the wife of the late Ross Miller. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Beulah Adkins, Hazel Hensley and Eula Adkins. A member of Byrd's Chapel Baptist Church, she was a retired employee of Baxters in Marion. Glessie enjoyed her flowers, needlepoint, quilting and her dog Baby.

Surviving are a daughter: Brenda Kay Burns and husband Bill of Sarasota, FL; a son: Terry Miller and wife Sue of Burnsville; 3 grandchildren: Robert "Rob" McCollum and wife Kim, Haley Miller and Brittany Clopton and husband Brad; 2 great-grandchildren: Gloria Alexandra and Gabriel; and a sister: Chloe Ella Ray of Burnsville. Many special friends and extended family members also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday May 11, 2017 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Raymond Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in the Whitson Adkins Cemetery at Ramseytown. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
