Iranian Royalty. Born Shahpur Gholamreza Pahlavi, he was the son of Reza Shah Pahlavi and the half-brother of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. After attending school in both Iran and Switzerland, he graduated from Princeton University. After returning to Iran from college, he attended military officers' training college, graduating as a brigadier general. He continued his service in the Iranian army and rose to the rank of lieutenant general in 1973. He also served as president of the Iranian National Olympic Committee and was a member of the International Olympic Committee. He was also a member of the Royal Council which governed the nation while his half-brother was on international visits. During his half-brother's reign, he owned lands in Iran and was the holder of large shares in six firms. He left Iran before the 1979 revolution that ousted his half-brother and settled in Paris, France. After the death of his half-sister Ashraf Pahlavi in 2016, he became the only living child of Shah Reza Pahlavi.
