Pamela Kay Cool was born to Marvin George and Norma Jean (Kepplinger) Schamber, October 19, 1949, at Mitchell, South Dakota. She died April 25, 2017, at the age of 67, from pancreatic cancer at Centennial Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Her burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Platte City Cemetery, Platte, SD. Visitations will be 5-7 P.M. Friday, at Miller West Funeral Chapel (6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls). Eidsness Funeral Home of Brookings is handling the arrangements.

Pamela grew up in Alexandria and Springfield, South Dakota, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1967. She attended USD in Vermillion and later USD-Springfield, graduating in 1970. She began her teaching career at Salem High School, taught for 27 years at Brandon Valley High School, and retired in 2005. Pamela married Larry Gene Cool in 1974 in Scotland, South Dakota, and they made their home in Sioux Falls. Larry’s job took them to Brookings, South Dakota for 10 years. They retired to Diamond Valley in Sioux Falls in December of 2014.

Survivors include her cherished son and daughter-in-law, James Elliott and Dr. Danielle Lila (Tupa) Cool, of Wesley Chapel, Florida; her beloved mother, Norma Jean (Kepplinger) Schamber, of Scotland; her mother-in-law, Betty (Cahill) Cool, of Platte; her two brothers-in-law, Tom Cool (Sharon), of Sioux Falls and Dan Cool (Linda), of Platte; her special cousins, Jan and John Fox, of Hideaway, Texas; as well as many friends and other relatives. Pamela was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her father, Marvin Schamber; her father-in-law, Lawrence Cool; and her grandparents, Ernst and Elsa Schamber and Frank and Myrtle Kepplinger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Sanford Hospice Foundation in memory of Pamela Cool for the support of the Centennial Cottage (Hospice). Donations may be sent to:
