MARS HILL: Bob Adams of 181 Woods Ammons Rd., died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Murphy, N. C. on Dec. 17, 1923 (83) and had made his home in Mars Hill for the past thirty-nine years. Mr. Adams was a member of the Fleet Marine Force serving in World War II and was retired auto repair professional having owned and operated Mars Hill Body Shop.
Surviving is his wife of thirty-eight years Lola Adams of the home, children; Bobby Horne of the home, Ray Metcalf and wife Ann Marie of Dunn, N. C., Gerald Metcalf of Marshall, Boyd Metcalf and wife Eloise of Barnardsville, Sue Ricker and husband Steve of Greeneville, TN., William Horne and wife Sonya of Mars Hill, a special family member, Delores Franklin and husband Dick of Marshall, seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, Feb. 11th in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The Revs Breck Landreth, Bud Marlor and Donnie Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Little Ivy Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Mars Hill VFW Post #5483. Serving as pallbearers will be; Michael, Alton, and Ray Metcalf, Lennie McBride, Jeremy Horne and David Rich. .
